Memorial Day Weekend

BY TARA BURKE

We are eternally grateful for all the men and women who have served and are serving to protect the United States of America. It is because of their bravery and sacrifice that we are able to enjoy the freedom we have. It is always with great honor that we celebrate and remember them and their families on Memorial Day.

To commemorate the day, we spent time with family and grilled! It was our first time taking out the grill for the season, so we kept it simple with some delicious grilled burgers. Grilling burgers is really simple. You just place each patty on the grill for a few minutes on each side making sure the grill is nice and hot. The only thing we added to our burgers was Weber Gourmet Burger Seasoning. We sprinkled the seasoning on each side of the raw patties before putting them on the grill. We love this seasoning because it gives the burgers nice flavor, but isn’t too salty or overpowering.

After dinner, we stayed out on the porch and chatted while sipping iced tea out of our cute flip flop glasses with whale tail stirrers.

It was a beautiful summer day, so we wanted something light and refreshing for dessert. So we decided fresh fruit was the way to go. Sherbert and whipped cream were also added to the mix to make it even more of a treat.

To finish the night we had a small night cap of Patron XO Cafe with milk, which is tequila and coffee liqueur. We had never had the mixture before, but it went well together. We had such a great day spending time with family and enjoying the weather. What did you guys do for #MDW?
