How to Make S’mores Without the Campfire

BY TARA BURKE

Among my favorite summer activities is sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows for s’mores. However, you can’t always get to a campfire. A great alternative and amazing party treat are oven roasted s’mores. Oven roasted s’mores are perfect for parties because you can make a large serving in one single dish and you cut the prep time by leaps and bounds compared to setting up a campfire. They are also just as delicious as real fire roasted s’mores, especially if you aren’t a fan of burnt marshmallows.

All you need is:

Regular sized marshmallows (you can use mini ones too)

A Pack of Chocolate Chips

Butter

A Cast Iron Skillet or Oven Safe Dish

The rest is super simple. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees, lightly butter the bottom of your pan, sprinkle the whole package of chocolate chips on the bottom of your dish, cut the marshmallows in half, and place them on top of your chocolate chips. You can use any oven safe dish, although most people recommend using a cast iron skillet if you have one. They melt the chocolate evenly and retain their heat better than thinner metal dishes, so the chocolate stays melty for awhile. We used a thick glass dish and it worked just as well! After you’re done placing your marshmallows you can put your s’mores in the oven for about 5 minutes or until the tops of the marshmallows are browned.

Wait a few minutes before serving as it’ll be piping hot, but don’t wait too long. That hot melty goodness is what makes this s’mores dip soooo good!
