Today we’re excited to feature Lindsay from Sprinkles for Breakfast who makes the most epic baked goods! Her blog is just as fun as its name! Along with providing recipes and sharing her latest baking creations, her site features jaw dropping photos that will make you want to stop what you’re doing and bake immediately. : Tell us a little about yourself.
: My name is Lindsay. I am a 25 year old California native. I have a french bulldog named Olive and I love all things sweet!
: What made you decide to start Sprinkles for Breakfast and what can our readers find on your site/social media?
: Sprinkles for Breakfast started as a final for a photography class – but once the class was over, I decided to keep blogging. And then, as I got the hang of it, I kind of fell in love with it. Sprinkles for Breakfast is a blog about all things baking. It offers sweet recipes, easy tutorials, and tips and tricks on how to become a better baker!
: How did you discover you had the talent for baking and that it was something you wanted to pursue?
: I have always had a sweet tooth. So baking was always something I liked to do. It wasn’t until high school when I started making cakes for all my friend’s birthdays that I realized I had a true passion for it.
: Everything you make is super fun and whimsical! How do you decide what you want to bake next?
: I get inspiration for anything and everything – especially when it comes to creating fun cake designs. But I also have a large stash of cookbooks to flip through when I am feeling stuck.
: As super fans of artisanal doughnuts, we love that you’re doing a National Doughnut Tour! How did this whole project start? And tell us, out of everything you’ve tried so far do you have a favorite doughnut of all?!
: The National Doughnut Tour started when my friend sent me an article about the best doughnut shops in America. I jokingly told her we should try to get to them all, and she turned to me and said “Let’s do it!” We both love doughnuts and exploring new places, so it just kind of made sense.
We have eaten a LOT of doughnuts, so picking one is pretty hard. But if I had to choose, it would probably be the Buttermilk Old Fashioned from Doughnut Vault in Chicago.
: Do you have a favorite recipe or something you’ve baked that you’re particularly proud of?
: My favorite recipe is probably the White Chocolate Jumbles. It is something I created in high school, and I just haven’t found anything like it. It is so quick and easy to make, and everyone is always so happy with the result.
: Your beautiful baked goods have gotten a lot of attention! What is it like having loyal followers and your work showcased in different magazines/media formats?
: It still amazes me that people are interested in my work! There are so many talented bakers out there – so to have people be excited about what I am doing feels really special.
: We love the name of your site! What makes you love sprinkles so much!?
: Sprinkles are just one of those things that seem to make people happy! They are bright and colorful and sugary sweet! What could be better than that?
: What projects/recipes are you working on next? Future plans for Sprinkles for Breakfast?
: With winter winding down, I am starting to work on a bunch of new spring recipes. There are no specific plans for the future – I am just always trying to come up with bigger and better content.
: Any advice for aspiring bakers out there?
: Practice makes perfect and don’t ever be afraid to try something new!
