No trip to Nashville would be complete without some hot chicken, so we made sure we stopped at Hattie B’s for the Nashville staple. We both got the tenders plate which comes with three jumbo tenders, bread, pickles and two sides. We both got the macaroni and cheese, and we split the our others sides of baked beans and potato salad.
Cailin and I are fans of spicy food and chicken tenders in general (haha) so this lunch was perfect! We loved Hattie B’s hot chicken and the sides were really delicious. The macaroni and cheese was particularly good with the addition of pimientos to the recipe. We went to the Midtown location and there was a line when we got there around lunchtime. However, the 20 minute wait was worth it for us!
Later that day we headed to Jeni’s Ice Cream to try their crazy unique flavors! We ended up trying the Brambleberry Crisp, Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Sweet Cream Biscuits & Peach Jam. All of the flavors were super creamy and many of their ingredients are locally sourced. We have to admit that the Sweet Cream Biscuits & Peach Jam flavor wasn’t our favorite, but I think that is just because it has a buttermilk ice cream base which gives it a tang that we’re not used to. I’m sure if we had it more often we’d be craving these southern comforts whipped into an ice cream, since all the flavors were pretty spot on in terms of replicating their names.
