When celebrating a patriotic holiday it’s always time to break out the red, white and blue. Normally, Cailin and I do the stereotypical trip to a lake for Memorial Day, but this time we just did a relaxing at-home meal, since our summer is packed with trips and freelance gigs. In turn, I kept it casual with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and this red bandanna tank from my Mom’s 90s closet. I finished the look with a pair of lace-up espadrilles.

So let me fill you in on my jeans. I recently discovered that Macy’s is actually full of decently priced “on-trend” jeans. I don’t typically like to spend too much money on trendy pieces because, well you know, trends come in and out of style mighty fast. I love the light wash, distressed details and the button up closures on this pair, and they were only $12! They also seem to be pretty good quality and should last with the proper care.
