Happy Maker Monday!
This week we are featuring Stevie Rozean and her amazing shop filled with all things lettering, illustration and design! Stevie can do anything from painting your childhood home or lettering your favorite quote, to designing your wedding invites! She also has a wonderful outlook on pursuing growth as a artist and the importance of practice when it comes to developing your style. : Tell us a few things about yourself!
: I’m 22, passionate about pursing my dreams and inspiring others to do the same, newly married and a sucker for desserts (specifically donuts). I’m from Cincinnati, OH but moved to Springfield, MO about 5 years ago to attend college.
: How did you discover your love of creating art and decide that you wanted to pursue it and start Stevie Rozean Co.?: I’ve always been an artist, but it wasn’t until about five months ago that I decided to turn it into a business. Throughout middle school and high school I dabbled in starting Etsy shops and occasionally did commissioned pieces for friends and family. I knew I loved it, but I couldn’t clearly see a path in which I could turn it into a career. So I studied journalism (I also love to write) in college and got a really great job as a reporter after I graduated. The job was very demanding, of both my time and energy, from the very beginning. So as a way to decompress after work, I started painting. I would paint from nearly the time I got off work till I went to bed. I started posting pictures of my work on social media and as I did, people started responding. My dream of owning a business was suddenly right in front of me. After much prayer and talking it through with my husband, friends and family, I decided to take the leap. I quit the job that fit perfectly with my degree and paid well to pursue this little business of mine.

: Hi! My name is Doris Wai and I am a happily married hand letterer and a mom to a wonderful little girl named Melody. I graduated in illustration design from the OCAD University in Toronto but what I realized was that I loved drawing most was letters and type. This passion of mine led me to starting my own business catering to clients in the wedding and event industry, catalogues and print, logo design and currently writing a book about what and how I create my pieces.
This week we are featuring Hollie Graze of Mollycat Mosaics! Her mosaic pieces range from small accent decor to large artwork that’s bound to be the focal point of the room! Although many of us have seen a mosaic in our life or remember pasting little pieces of tile on a popsicle stick frame, there are so many factors that can make working with this medium a challenge. Hollie has definitely risen to meet that challenge and we love how her 
: What makes me, me? hmmm. I like new projects, the ideas and planning and problem solving are invigorating. I love my balcony and watching birds. I trained my cat to sit and do paw. I have not figured out how to make him not meow for food at

This Monday we are featuring Danaye Shiplett of young@art! We love how Danaye speaks through her art. Her pieces are an expression of herself as well as a story she’d like to tell. The imagination behind Danaye’s work leaps off the page. Each character has personality and a message for the viewer to interpret, an attribute that is sometimes lost in more commercialized art. Danaye stays true to her artistic roots and desire to create for herself, and gives her customers the opportunity to share in her creative journey- something we think is truly special about maker’s shops! : Every introvert’s dreaded nightmare! (Kidding.) So, my name is Danaye Shiplett and I am a 30-something geek, bookworm, introvert… well, you get the idea. I’m married, live in the South (though I was raised on the East coast), and have two adorable fur-babies. I can’t have children so they really are my kids. (I don’t dress them up or anything, though. Promise.)
: Hi! My name’s Kayla and I’m a 23-year-old wife living in Iowa City, working full-time as a nanny to the two squishiest turkeys in all the land. Jesus is my reason for being, I’m a college drop out, have 1,632 hobbies, love making things fit perfectly into my trunk, and classic rock comes out on top of the music chain in my world. I am also incredibly sarcastic, which makes my personality seem quite strange through writing.

: I’m a 25-year- old artist, currently living in Orlando, Florida. I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and take great pride in my cultural background. I was born and raised in Manatee County, and continue to go home to visit my family every chance I get. From a young age, my parents instilled in me the importance of education and expected only the best from me. After graduating in the top 4% of my class in high school, I continued on to the University of South Florida where I received a dual degree in Psychology and Biomedical Sciences. After graduation, I decided to take some time off from school to ready my application for medical school. What I didn’t expect to do in that time, was start a creative business.
: I am 22 and I currently live at the foot of Mt. Hood (Oregon’s highest mountain!), right outside of Portland. When I was a child, my parents were constantly taking my brothers and myself camping and hiking. Getting outside recharges my soul and is still one of my favorite things to do, except now I have a fur-child to come along! I have a golden retriever, Theodore, he goes everywhere with me. I adore plants, I try to be always surrounded by them and that’s why I currently work at Portland Nursery. I also work with Foraged Blooms, creating floral arrangements and helping as needed. I realized early on in life that my heart is fullest when I have a creative outlet, and I love working with mixed medias and trying new things!
This Monday we are featuring Elizabeth Looney of the Looney Collective! We love how eclectic and varied Elizabeth’s creations are. If there is something that she can make instead of buy she is going to try her hand at it. Elizabeth truly has the spirit of a maker and we think it is awesome that she decided to share her pieces with the world. You can find the Looney Collective on 
: I’m Liz, a stay-at-home mom with a shrinking amount of free time and an ever growing list of things I want to make! I’m a maker to the core, from making my own cleaning supplies and general health care products for the house to the quirky pieces of art and eclectic bits and bobs I sporadically add to my shop. It gives me some strange thrill to repurpose and breathe life back into forgotten and found objects. You’ll see “vintage” and “upcycled” items in my shop.
