I am obsessed with cards. For real, I will give or make cards for any and every occasion when I can! So I was pumped when Paperless Post asked us to test out their site and share our thoughts! I am really big on making my own cards. I took tons of art classes throughout high school and college, so I always have fun taking out the paint or colored pencils and being super extra!
Sometimes though, I just don’t have the time or the supplies with me when I need to send out a card! What I love about Paperless Post, is that everything is so customizable, it’s like you made this card yourself! So if you don’t have the art skills, this is such a cool way to add your own special touch to a card.
I made quite a few cards to see how it all worked and was pumped with the results. First up, I headed to the “Just Because” section and found a cute card for my boyfriend. This one let you customize and add a photo which made this literally the coolest, because you can’t buy a card in the store with someone you know’s face on it!
I know, I know, apple picking season is over and this post is extremely late to the game. For some reason I keep forgetting about these photos until I open my editor and get smacked in the face with them again. Soooo, playing catch up here! Well you guys know that Cailin and I go apple picking every year because we’re from Upstate New York and it’s what we do, haha. If you’ve been following us for awhile you know we usually go downstate. Well this year we kept it local and went to Bowman’s Orchard in Rexford, NY.
We always love dressing for the occasion, so when we had a weekend trip planned to The Catskills we each put together a look for the mountain vibes! I personally love western inspired style, but wanted to be comfortable at the same time, so I threw on this waaay oversized shirt and tied it into a knot at the corner to get somewhat of a more fitted look! I paired it with one of those button down denim skirts, but I love how it’s lined with brown suede to make it a little different than the norm. And of course — My favorite gladiators to top it off! Plus, I had to throw on my go-to flat brim hat when we went exploring the nearby town!
No trip to Nashville would be complete without some hot chicken, so we made sure we stopped at Hattie B’s for the Nashville staple. We both got the tenders plate which comes with three jumbo tenders, bread, pickles and two sides. We both got the macaroni and cheese, and we split the our others sides of baked beans and potato salad.
The Berkshires are one of Tara and I’s favorite weekend getaway destinations because they are the perfect place to unwind, have some quiet, and spend time outdoors. We mainly focused on the R&R this trip — getting coffee, going swimming, and walking around the cute downtown areas (but if you want to see some of the activities we’ve done in the past check out: End of Summer Berkshires Weekend, Canoeing and Cliff Jumping in the Berkshires, & XC Skiing the Berkshires). One of our favorite stops was Lenox Coffee for a Chai Tea Latte and a Cappuccino. The drinks were an A+ and after both trying the cappuccino, we kept raving about it. And believe me, we’ve had some good NYC ones!
For our last full day in Music City, we (successfully!!) fit in our last few “must-do’s” and started the day by heading to the 12South area to hit up Five Daughters Bakery and Franklin Juice Co. To successfully make it to all the places we wanted to go (for this trip at least), that meant stopping at both places for breakfast. We really wanted to try Five Daughter’s doughnuts and Franklin Juice Co.’s pitaya bowl so we had a “Why not eat two breakfasts?” kind of moment. You guys know how we feel about doughnuts. After seeing that Five Daughters Bakery was Nashville’s main artisanal doughnut stop, we made sure to head there and grab a few flavors! They’re known for having the “100 Layer Donut” which is a croissant and donut hybrid, filled and then topped with a glaze! They’re basically shaped like doughnuts but more pastry-esque! I believe Tara and I got chocolate crunch, maple glaze, and one of the seasonal flavors and they were all so amazing! You can definitely tell that they’re a doughnut and a pastry combined because the texture is pretty different, but we love doughnuts in all forms and thought the flavors were so good!
We’ve been loving the “jungalow” style of decorating lately, so when we saw this plant wall at Stacks Espresso Bar, we knew we had to share it with our fellow plant lovers. Not much is better than sipping a latte under a dreamy wall of hanging plants.
After our brunch at Biscuit Love, we headed down the street for a little shopping at Two Old Hippies. We loved how cool and unique all of the items were and it was awesome that the store not only had the nicest clothes, but had tons of home goods, and a whole room for guitars and ukuleles. They also double as a music venue! Only in Nashville can you find a hybrid of a performance venue, clothing, decor, and guitar store! (With a Volkswagen parked in the middle of the shop no less!)
A big part of our Nashville trip was FOOD, so when we heard about the long lines that form in front of Biscuit Love we knew it was something we wanted to try. When we got to Biscuit Love’s location in The Gulch area of Nashville there was already a line wrapping around the building. Our Uber driver wished us luck as we hopped out of the car and into the line. We ended up waiting for around 30 minutes, but it was worth it!
While in Nashville, we wanted to make sure we got a meal at Monell’s, because their whole dining experience is so unique and nothing like a restaurant we had ever been to!
Their concept is family style dining with the slogan, “Enter as strangers, leave as friends.” But unlike typical family style, your group doesn’t get its own table with just larger portioned shared foods — you actually share a table with several other groups of people! I think there were about 13 people at our table and after saying hello to your new tablemates, food just starts coming around the table.
