Sometimes you just wake up and pass all the color in your closet and go for the black edgy outfit. Granted, that doesn’t happen to me all too often, haha! I wear a lot of color & like crazy designs (the more unique the better), but when I found this PUMA x Selena Gomez collab athlesiure dress, I thought it was the coolest thing.
The details and quality of this piece are amazing, and it is beyond comfortable. The mesh sleeves are built in and the jersey material is super thick, which makes it a perfect fall dress to stay warm in. It also has a pull away snap button hem all the way down the dress AND is also a high-low cut.
Being Upstate NY gals we’ve grown up around several apple orchards, so like clockwork every fall we go apple picking! It’s always such a fun way to welcome the new season, get some delicious apples, cider, and cider doughnuts…and it’s a great location for photos.
I like to wear comfy cozy sweaters as often as I can and this Volcom sweater is so warm and fuzzy. I like how the pattern is only on one side and how one sleeve ends in black and the other doesn’t.
My jeans are Wild Fable from Target. They are also super comfy and you can’t tell from any of these photos because my sweater is covering it, but they are actually high-waisted button ups! I finished my outfit with my clogs from MIA Shoes.
I’ve been doing more blogging on Instagram these days and this is what I posted as the caption for this outfit:
When you’re tempted to look to the right and left at other people’s callings, successes, & blessings, remember God chose you for a specific “thing” that He purposed for you before you were born. Do your thing, run your race, carry your cross. There’s freedom in not chasing after things God didn’t call you to, not running in multiple races and not putting crosses on your back that weren’t meant for you.
It’s so important to not get consumed with comparison and be confident in the purposes that God has for YOU and only YOU. It’s definitely easier said than done, but God has freedom for you when you trust in His plan for your life. This top reminds me of that and it was on sale at Target for $3 (lol) so it was a win-win on all accounts. I also got the pants and platform sandals from Target as well.
Cailin and I love having fresh flowers around the house, as well as incorporating them into our photoshoots. It always adds another level of creativity when you add props to shoots and we had a lot of fun shooting this one!
Freely Clothing’s Giving Chain video is finally done! Thank you to all the supporters who have been patiently waiting for the video. To everyone who donated, shared, bought a tee, came to an event, or was just present throughout the whole process, I’m so grateful. I love you all, and seriously, you don’t even know what your support meant to me during what was a challenging season both personally and professionally. So, without further ado…here it is!
I hope you liked the video and that it inspires you to give freely! Your generosity changes the lives of generations and you can make a difference. There is no telling the impact a generous spirit in action can have in the hands of God! Go out there and pursue your calling despite the circumstances, hardships and perseverance it may take. If there is anything I learned looking back on this video is that there is a story behind every “success” and that God is faithful to complete the good work He started in you.
We’re a little delayed, but we hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I know we are beyond grateful for what Jesus did for us on the cross so we’d be free from sin and the grave. We are also extremely thankful that we are able to freely walk into church and worship our God. We are praying and doing what we can to help those who are targeted and persecuted for their love of Jesus. It felt kind of silly to post about our Easter outfits in the face of such violence and sadness in Sri Lanka, but those brothers and sisters went to praise their Savior even with probable danger lingering, and that sacrifice, in spite of the terrible injustice surrounding it, is beautifully honorable. So, before I jump into our outfits I’d ask you to stop and pray for the victim’s families and the persecuted church around the world.
Cailin and I always like to dress up for Easter. This year I wore a dress by Equipment. It has still been a little chilly here in New York, so I wanted a dress that was both springy, but didn’t have full-on warm weather vibes. This dress fit the bill with the netted full length sleeves and floral pattern.
This plaid (really tartan pattern) blazer from the 90s was an amazing find I took straight out of my Mom’s stockpile. It came with shoulder pads and all, which I usually take out, but this blazer had them sewn into the entire stitching of the shoulder, so that was a no-go. I love that this blazer isn’t stiff, but is made out of a cloth-like material. It makes it the perfect casual piece to add a little more interest to a fun graphic tee.
Rainbows are just awesome. They always remind me of Genesis 9:16 and how God not only keeps His promises, but that He cares enough to send us beautiful reminders of who He is. They also remind me of my Kindergartners because whenever I ask them what their favorite color is, they always say, “Rainbow!”
One of the recent color trends in fashion has been rainbow! I’m all about this fun and bold look, so when I saw this skirt on Forever21 for $7 I was in. It’s also fuzzy, which is the absolute best and makes it work as a winter skirt.
Now that I’m writing this I’ve realized this outfit is all Forever21 from the sweater to the boots. I ordered everything offline since there are way more unique pieces on their website compared to the store. I love this sweater because it is distressed and has such fun chain details. It makes a classic black sweater a little more edgy.
We ended up finding another cool photo background in the endless creative possibilities that NYC has to offer, so Cai and I took a ton of shots!
One of the qualities of the Enneagram 2 that I relate with A LOT is the ability to love and serve in such a measure that just doesn’t really stop. If y’all haven’t checked out Sleeping At Last’s Enneagram based songs, you need to because they are all pretty awesome, but I feel the “Two” lyrics deep. Although, it is describing a little bit of the unhealthy side of the enneagram (loving and sacrificing for someone to the point that you’re hurting yourself), something I can definitely be guilty of if I don’t keep myself in check, but it displays pretty well what lengths 2s will often go to take care of the people they love. So, I thought I’d share one of my “2” struggles in hopes of helping you navigate friendships and how they can honor God, your friends and yourself when you have this kind of love to give!
Vintage is my fave thing for so many reasons. First, I love 1930s-50s fashion. The hunt to find great vintage among the junk in a thrift store is so fun, plus everything you find is unique. It’s a great way to be a sustainable shopper. I’m also a history nerd and like looking up the brands and their stories, and that is exactly what I did for this vintage Jack Winter top.
