Spring Ready Button Down

BY TARA BURKE

Loose button downs are my favorite thing to wear for a casual weekend look. This one I actually took from my Mom’s closet. I’ve talked about my Mom’s wardrobe before and all the 90’s treasures it holds. This top was definitely one of those treasures. I love the vibrant magenta color it has and the embroidered flower detailing makes it even more perfect to wear during the first days of spring.

Exploring the Omi International Arts Center

BY CAILIN BURKE

If you haven’t noticed by all of our Feature Fridays, we are huge art lovers so if there’s ever a chance to check out a new artist or head to a museum, we’re there!
One day while scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon Omi International Arts Center and it looked incredible! Even better, it was located in NY! It wasn’t too far of a drive, so one weekend we headed there to check out all of the art in their Fields Sculpture Park.

We had always passed Storm King Art Center on our drive to college and wanted to go check out the huge sculptures, but never had the chance. So when we saw that the Omi Center had a similar concept and admission was –FREE– we had to go! It’s basically a huge outdoor area with different sculptures strewn throughout the premises.

Must Visit: Cha Cha Matcha

BY CAILIN BURKE

I’ve expressed my love/obsession for matcha in numerous posts, so when we heard a new ALL MATCHA EVERYTHING MATCHA place was opening, we were so excited to go! Not only does Cha Cha Matcha focus on the greatest drink/flavor ever, but when we saw photos of how cute the place was, we were sold! We headed there crossing our fingers to find seats on a Saturday afternoon (this place gets crowded) and strolled right in to find adorable bench seating available!

Bowery Market and Matcha Lattes

BY CAILIN BURKE

If you haven’t already noticed from our blog content, we frequent NYC food markets. Tara and I were actually just talking the other day, and came to the realization that we have been to every single one of them. Every. One. No joke! So when I heard that Bowery Market opened up this summer, we were there right away. We checked it out for the first time in August and snagged a few pics to give you guys a preview of how cool their vibes are.

Feature Friday: We Perceive

Happy Feature Friday!

Today we’re excited to feature our first blogger duo, Sydney and Kimberlin of We Perceive. We love that We Perceive is a bi-coastal blog and that they work together from opposite sides of the country! While Kimberlin is in Portland, Sydney is in NYC and their site gives readers a glimpse of life in these two amazing cities! Plus they make “adulting” look as fun as it should be. For more from these BFFs make sure to check out their Instagram, Facebook, and keep reading!

Castle Logo: We love that you’re a co-curated blog, just like us! Could you each tell us a little about yourselves?

IMG_6046 – KBG: From 9-5, Monday through Friday (and sometimes weekends), I work the ins and outs of social media at an amazing creative agency in the heart of the Industrial Pearl District. If I’m not in front of the computer screen, I’m out grabbing happy hour having a glass of wine and some delish food, romping around the city, or out exploring the natural beauty Oregon has to offer. I also love to get creative, whether it is painting, drawing, making DIY goods, or taking photos.

SPV: We are each living this crazy, wonderful adult life that looks way different from the other’s and way different from the life we lived growing up in the same state. On the day to day, I work my butt off in media and drink wine at awesome bars with the amazing friends I have made in NYC.

Coffee Hopping in SoCo

BY CAILIN BURKE

As Tara mentioned in one of our previous Texas posts, South Congress, otherwise known as SoCo was one of our favorite areas of Austin! On our first full day in Texas, we started off by grabbing coffee and breakfast burritos at Jo’s, an Austin staple. They’re famous for their Iced Turbo which is a delicious combo of hazelnut, chocolate, coffee and cream. We had to try it and as the contents elude to, it definitely didn’t need any sugar added.

Fall Looks with the Shop Spring App

Screen Shot 2015-11-09 at 4.03.16 PM

For this post, we’re excited to team up with the shopping destination, Spring, to share our fall style using clothes you can get from them! Spring is a mobile app that lets you easily search from hundreds of brands to find something you love! Best part, shipping is always free! And they have some pretty amazing clothes, accessories, and decor so that doesn’t hurt either. What we really loved about the app is that you get a customized feed of products based off your interests. You can pick your interests with categories from graphic tees and fair-trade, to backpacks and streetwear! And yes, I couldn’t help but pick all of those. Tara and I each put together a look for you, one fall casual look and one fancier look. All of the products are linked below and go to the Spring website, but be sure to try the app too! Happy Shopping!

DIY Pumpkin Painting

BY CAILIN BURKE

Halloween is right around the corner but the World Series is already here! I decided to combine the two when pumpkin painting this year. For some reason I had the overwhelming want to recreate the Mets home run apple, but didn’t realize how difficult it would be. After many hours, I love how it turned out and wanted to show you the steps to creating a more difficult pumpkin masterpiece!

Feature Friday: Illustrator Ann Shen

tumblr_me5jodMvUZ1qbwmaiHappy Feature Friday!

Today we’re featuring the fun and bright illustrations of Ann Shen! We have actually been familiar with Ann’s work for awhile since we always come across her illustrations in different places online. We love how her designs have an aesthetic that makes it easy to recognize her work and we’re so excited to get the chance to learn more about her. From selling her pieces on Etsy and doing freelance projects, to working on her very first book (that will be released next fall!), Ann is one busy creative! Luckily she took the time to answer some of our questions and show us how much she really loves what she does. Read on to brighten up your Friday by seeing her illustrations!

Game Day: Two Looks

BY CAILIN BURKE

It’s GIANTS game day! Tara and I decided to each choose a different take on game day apparel in honor of tonight’s matchup. Since it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you can see every team incorporating pink into their uniforms, I went that route too. I threw on one of my favorite Giants hats, which is the actual Breast Cancer Awareness hat worn by the team a few years ago! Since my other red, white, and blue team apparel didn’t match well with the hat, I just kept the rest of the look sporty with a black shirt, pink and blue flannel, and an infinity scarf to add a bit more pink into my look. I also wore a Giants bracelet that’s made with actual materials from a football!

Tara wore the classic Giants colors and sported her favorite raglan tee. She also wore her Polo Ralph Lauren sneaks that happened to match perfectly. Now that we’ve got our Giants apparel on, we can’t wait for tonight’s game!
