DIY Lace Up Tee in Chelsea

BY CAILIN BURKE

The weather was a little nicer than usual, so we thought, “Why not take a walk on the Highline!?” We actually hadn’t been to the Highline in over 2 years since it’s pretty far on the West Side, but it was the perfect day to walk around, pop into Chelsea Market, and end the day with the famous artichoke pizza at Artichoke Basile’s.

I was super excited to debut my most successful DIY upcycled shirt – I literally got this cool tee from Salvation Army for $1 (can I get an amen for Half-Priced Wednesdays at Salvation Army!?) It’s a tee from a building supply company but I thought the graphic was pretty cool so I took it home to cut it up!

Matcha Hot Chocolate at Chalait

BY TARA BURKE

Ever since we tried matcha we have had a slight obsession with anything matcha-related. So when we saw that Chalait was doing a matcha hot chocolate, we were there! They have a new location at 1216 Broadway which is a typical NYC “hole in the wall” size. It’s probably a little better for take away, but they do have five barstool seats situated at a floating table surface against the wall. We did have to wait a while on the steps to the rest of the building, which is why we have these concrete step photos, haha!

Mediterranean Eats at Cava Grill

BY TARA BURKE

If you are looking for a fast but healthy meal, Cava Grill in Union Square could just do the trick! The chain opened a new location in NYC and is serving up Mediterranean-inspired food in a fast casual, Chipotle-style setting. Cailin and I love rice bowls so when we heard of Cava’s opening we had to give it a try. The menu is full of healthy options that are also filled with a ton of flavor.

The Doughnut Project & First Street Green Art Park

BY TARA BURKE

And the doughnut adventure continues! We have stopped at quite a few NYC doughnut shops to sample their version of the dessert (or breakfast)! One of the last places we need to try on the list was The Doughnut Project.

Must Visit: Cha Cha Matcha

BY CAILIN BURKE

I’ve expressed my love/obsession for matcha in numerous posts, so when we heard a new ALL MATCHA EVERYTHING MATCHA place was opening, we were so excited to go! Not only does Cha Cha Matcha focus on the greatest drink/flavor ever, but when we saw photos of how cute the place was, we were sold! We headed there crossing our fingers to find seats on a Saturday afternoon (this place gets crowded) and strolled right in to find adorable bench seating available!

by Chloe Vegan Eats

BY TARA BURKE

As the rise in going vegan grows, so does the number of chefs making delicious vegan eats. by CHLOE. has become a vegan cooking standard and understandingly so. Their completely plant-based menu is great even for non-vegans. We went to the Flatiron location around 7pm on a Saturday and expected to hit a long line (as there is usually a wait at any of their NYC locations), but we were able to find a table and order right away!

Bowery Market and Matcha Lattes

BY CAILIN BURKE

If you haven’t already noticed from our blog content, we frequent NYC food markets. Tara and I were actually just talking the other day, and came to the realization that we have been to every single one of them. Every. One. No joke! So when I heard that Bowery Market opened up this summer, we were there right away. We checked it out for the first time in August and snagged a few pics to give you guys a preview of how cool their vibes are.

Num Pang & Northern Tiger

BY TARA BURKE

Cai and I our big fans of NYC food markets because you’re not limited to a restaurant’s cuisine of choice and you don’t have to deal with that one friend who always wants to split the check, haha! 😛 This time we went to one of our favorite markets, Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place.

Backyard Oasis at Greecologies

BY TARA BURKE

After sitting inside all day working it’s always great to find an outdoor oasis to relax and have a cool drink in the city. Of course, there are all the great rooftop bars in NYC, but sometimes you may want a change from your go-to happy hour spot. If you’re a latte or greek yogurt lover, Greecologies may be your new summer hangout.

Milk Bar

BY TARA BURKE

There is nothing like an ice cream on a hot summer day in the city. Cailin and I were craving soft serve one day and decided it was the perfect opportunity to try Milk Bar’s cereal milk flavor. We went to their East Village location which always seems to have a line, but it moves fairly quickly. This location has a set of benches outside, but the inside is designed purely as an ordering window.
