This plaid (really tartan pattern) blazer from the 90s was an amazing find I took straight out of my Mom’s stockpile. It came with shoulder pads and all, which I usually take out, but this blazer had them sewn into the entire stitching of the shoulder, so that was a no-go. I love that this blazer isn’t stiff, but is made out of a cloth-like material. It makes it the perfect casual piece to add a little more interest to a fun graphic tee.
I love mixing fancy clothing pieces with really casual ones and that is exactly what I did with this outfit. Cailin and I were in the city to go to Christmas Eve service at Hillsong NYC and to hit up the markets for some last minute shopping. A casual look and sneaks are a great way to stay comfortable when you’re walking all over the city. I knew I was going to wear my Vans because they are super comfortable, so I planned the rest of my outfit around that.
We’re all about the laid back sporty look for running around doing errands. We also just like to get away with essentially wearing baggy tees and sweatpants in public. My look consists of an extra baggy athletic tee, a vintage jean jacket, leggings, wedge sneaks and a white baseball cap. I got the tee out thrifting and the jacket is from my lovely sis’s closet. If you’re looking to be a little more intentional with your shopping habits we’d definitely recommend thrift, consignment and vintage shops. We always come across the best finds for a fraction of the cost, you’re reducing waste and most use their profits to benefit amazing causes.
There is nothing better than a cozy slouchy sweater in the fall! If you’re searching for that perfectly loose fall shirt, you don’t have to look so far. I usually just find a style of shirt I like and then go up two or three sizes! I did just that with this shirt. I liked the style, but the only size left was a few sizes up than what I typically wear. I bought it anyways and now it’s one of my go-to shirts for a lazy weekend or when you’re going out to eat, haha!
Thank goodness for dresses and skirts in the summer! We have been going through quite the heat wave in NYC and my swing dress has come to the rescue. It’s so easy breezy and takes no effort to throw on in the morning and style. You can really change up this look depending on what accessories you pair with it, but this time I went for a casual summer vibe with a long Half United Hunger Necklace, Pura Vida Bracelets and a Freely Clothing Bracelet.
Long wraps are one of my go-tos for fall. I got this one from Forever21 several years ago and just started wearing it again after it somehow made its way into my Mom’s wardrobe! I love the boho details and colors of this wrap. It is also made of a thick fabric that is great for keeping warm on chilly days. I paired it with my “Cool Cats Give Freely” shirt from Freely Clothing.
Who is happy to be wearing flannels again?! One of the reasons I love this comfy fall staple is that it is great for dressing up or down. Today I wore it as a more fashion casual look. A lot of companies are thankfully switching over from business casual to fashion casual, which in my own definition is a step up from jeans and a tee, and a step down from a skirt suit. It really has different definitions in each company, but in general it usually means looking polished with a stylish flair.
For today’s fall outfit I wore this awesome Saturday Evening Post tee that I actually got at a unique gift shop in Buffalo. I tied a crochet sweater around my waist to add an extra fall layer, and threw on my absolute favorite ripped boyfriend jeans. These jeans are perfect because if you don’t feel like wearing tight skinny jeans just yet but it’s too cold for shorts, you can wear a loose boyfriend cut.
I also love the half bun topknot trend since it’s an easy way to make it look like you put some effort into your hair even if it only took 30 seconds! What are some of your favorite fall trends? Whether they be hair, beauty or style we want to know!
Fall is in the air and we are ready for some fall fashion! The first day of autumn in the city was definitely cooler than the past few weeks, but still hit the low eighties in the late afternoon. My perfect fix for those cool mornings and hot afternoons is a corduroy skirt and quarter length sleeve sweater. This time I stuck with fall inspired neutral tones to bring in the season. Who else is excited for some fall foliage?!
Street art makes the perfect backdrop for some street style! For this look I wanted something edgy, that still had a summer vibe to it. I wore a graphic tee, faux leather and cotton skirt and a crochet vest. It can be hard making your black pieces work on beach weather days, but this crochet vest gives the whole look a music festival vibe which is perfect for summer. I finished the outfit with some wrap around belt booties. Booties and mules are my fave winter to summer shoes. They work so well with almost all outfits at any time of the year. Cailin also wore a graphic tee and a purple elastic cinched skirt with pocket details. Once again, I’ve had most of these pieces for a long time, but I’ve listed some look-alike items below. Happy shopping!
