It’s Smorgasburg season! Cailin and I love going to Smorgasburg for lunch because there are so many NYC vendors to try and we usually end up spending the whole day sitting on the grass enjoying the skyline or park views. We are also slowly becoming a city food blog haha, but all the goods at Smorgasburg are just too photogenic not to post about!
We’re rolling out some of our favorite eats from our summer trips to Smorgasburg!
Our top pick has to go to Mighty Quinn’s as we have become quite obsessed with their BBQ. I first tried their brisket sandwich at Smorgasburg, which is so delicious. They definitely have one of the best briskets I’ve ever tried and the sandwich comes with an assortment of yummy pickled veggies. If you are also looking to fill up on one item the full size brisket sandwich is wallet friendly at $9.
For today’s feature it’s all about food and since we are always looking for the best food in NYC ourselves, we thought who better to talk to than the girls of the food Instagram @NomNomNYCGirls?! We absolutely love their photos and by looking through their Instagram found so many places we want to go to! They’re constantly trying new foods so make sure to check out their Instagram to find some food inspo and plan your next meal out! They were awesome enough to do a video for us about how they got their start and they even shared some of their favorite restaurants in NYC so watch it below!
Some of you probably checked out my post on Smorgasburg, so you got a sneak peak of my outfit for this post! We are currently in that tricky season of transitioning from winter to spring. You wake up and it’s chilly and rainy so you put on a light sweater, but by the afternoon it’s sunny and warm. It’s too late to turn back now, but you wish you opted for that spring blouse you’d been eyeing all winter. My favorite solution to this weather predicament is a jean jacket! You can wear a graphic tee or fancy tank top underneath and you’re ready for the rain or shine. On this day, I choose to wear one of my favorite “Be an Icon” tanks underneath a bleached jean jacket. I paired the look with classic black pants and cheetah print loafers. Oh, and I almost forgot! I added my new favorite pair of sunnies to the mix to complete the look. I love how the lenses are reflective. Now I can people watch without people thinking I’m creepily staring at them. Bonus!
Smorgasburg is back and spring has finally sprung. We had a gorgeous Sunday afternoon completely free, so Cailin and I decided to head to Smorgasburg for some Ramen Burgers and to check out the Dumbo location. On Saturdays Smorgasburg is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and then on Sundays it is in Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5.
Cailin and I really like food, so more than half of our to-do list in the city consists of places to eat. One of the food markets on our list was Smorgasburg in Williamsburg. So on a sunny Saturday we headed out to Brooklyn with our roomie. Although there were several absolutely delicious food stands to try, we headed straight for the Lumpia Shack. Being half Filipino we have grown up eating lumpia and it is by far my favorite Filipino food. In turn, we just had to see how the Lumpia Shack’s lumpia stood against our Mom’s. We ordered the lumpia sampler which included three pieces of each of their lumpia varieties: original pork, peking duck and truffle adobo mushroom. Our Mom makes traditional lumpia with ground pork or beef so we were excited to try the more gourmet versions of a typical Filipino spring roll. They did not disappoint. They only thing lacking was more of them!
We also ordered Halo Halo, a Filipino dessert that typically features shaved ice, evaporated milk, fruits, jelly and is topped with ube ice cream and leche flan. The Lumpia Shack put their own unique spin on their version of Halo Halo which featured purple sweet potato whipped cream, milk foam, fresh fruits, coconut jelly and popcorn! It too was delicious and was the perfect refreshment on such a hot summer day.
We will most certainly be back to try out the rest of the food stands. Till next time, Smorgasburg!
